Wednesday at Upolu Point

Every Wednesday I'm at Upolu Point Airport, at the north tip of the Big Island of Hawai'i.

What's the big deal?

The sea cliffs and waterfalls just east of Upolu Point are absolutely fantastic. The only good way to see them is from the air.

What's it like?

Some of my first customers to fly up at Upolu Point took a video, and posted it on YouTube:

Are you allowed to do this? Is this legal?

Yes. Wayforward Aviation is a 91.147 Commercial Air Operator. I have a Letter Of Authorization from the FAA to conduct Commercial Air Tours, with the restriction that I stay within 25 miles from Upolu Airport. I'm a commercial pilot and a certified flight instructor, and the airplane is strictly maintained to FAA ‘for-hire’ standards.

How many people can fly at once?

I can take 3 people: you and two friends.

How much?

It's $240 for a half-hour flight. Locals and kama'aina get a steep discount. The cost is for the flight time: you can divide it between your friends. If three people go, it's $80 per person.

How do I get to Upolu Point Airport?
